CK boards and committees looking for volunteers

If you’re looking to get involved in Chatham-Kent, one of the many municipal boards might be the right choice for you.

Applications are now open for volunteer citizen appointments to the different boards and committees operated by the municipality. The museum advisory and library boards are included in open applications.

Typically, boards oversee budgets and expenditures, community engagement and advocacy programs. Board terms are for a four-year period, from 2018 to 2022.

For the CK public library, the board also appoints a CEO to guide operations and staffing.

Other committees, like the Age-Friendly Committee, ensures follows through on already mandated policies. Some committees have openings for just one person, while some have openings for up to 19.

The CK Board of Health, Police Services Board, Drainage Board and the 2035 Advisory and Community Development Committees all require a resume to be submitted with your application.

CK residents must be at least 18 years of age in order to serve on a committee. Meeting attendance is expected for committee members and range from once a quarter to once a month.

More information is available at chatham-kent.ca under the Local Government tab. Applications are due by Nov. 2, 2018.
