Tools, batteries stolen from vehicles

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips as they try to recover some property that was stolen from two vehicles that were parked at a business on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Officers said someone broke into the vehicles sometime between 6:30 p.m. and 6 a.m. Thursday while they were parked at Sarnia Propane.

Police said six Milwaukee M18 lithium-ion batteries and a Milwaukee M18 charger were taken -- they have a combined value of $1,150.

The damage caused by the break-ins is estimated at $1,500.

Chatham man out past his curfew

A 41-year-old man is in more trouble with police after officers allegedly spotted him out early Friday morning when he should have been home.

Police said an officer on general patrol picked the man up on King Street in Chatham at around 1 a.m. Friday even though he had previously been ordered to obey a daily curfew of 9 p.m. to 8 a.m.

A 41-year-old Chatham man was arrested and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Chatham-Kent police are reminding the public there is a "Stuff a Bus" at Sobeys on Park Avenue in Chatham on Saturday.

All donations will be going directly to the local food bank to help those in need.

Blanket Drive for Victim Services

Police are also reminding the public that this weekend is the last chance to donate some new and gently used blankets for the Victim Services' Blanket Drive.

Donations may be dropped off at police headquarters in Chatham or police substations in Wallaceburg, Blenheim or Ridgetown.
