NCAA game in CK featuring Bridget Carleton 90% sold out

Anyone looking for tickets to the upcoming NCAA basketball game featuring hometown native Bridget Carleton better act fast.

Chatham will host a regular season Division I women's basketball game between Eastern Michigan and Carelton's team, Iowa State.

The game is being held in the St. Clair College Thames Campus’ HealthPlex later next month.

According to the chair of the event, Don Green, there will only be a maximum of 1,000 seats available and they are around 90 per cent sold out.

"We are selling tickets very quickly," Green said. "We are working with some members from the plowing match to try and get some additional bleachers from there and put some extras in. If we can do that hopefully we can seat about 1,000 on the main floor."

Green added they may be able to turn the track above the court into a standing-only section, which would increase capacity by roughly 200.

Green said tickets cost $10 for Chatham-Kent Wildcats players and $20 for everyone else -- they can be reserved on the Chatham Wildcats page or you can pick some up at the WISH Centre in Chatham on Wednesday, October 3 from 5:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Green said about 800 have already been reserved by the public.

"Iowa State and Eastern Michigan want us to reserve some because they have some parents coming, so there's another 100 between the two teams," Green said. "We average about four tickets per athlete so we are up to 900 [total]."

Green has been in contact with Carleton and her family. He said they are not wasting this opportunity, which will likely be Carleton's last meaningful game in her hometown.

"They are all really excited," Green said. "Carrie [Carleton's mom] purchased about 160 tickets for friends and family. I didn't know they had that many friends."

Green spoke highly of Carleton, who just got back from representing Canada at the Women's Basketball World Cup in Spain. He said she will return to Iowa and start practicing with the team to prepare for the season.

Green said there are still some renovations to do to the HealthPlex and court.

"We've gotta put some NCAA lines down because they are slightly different than what our high school kids play," Green said. "The three-point line has to be extended and a few things like that."

The game will tip-off on November 21 at 6 p.m. Green said doors open at 5 p.m. and aside from players families there is no designated seating, so those with tickets will get seats on a first come, first served basis.
