Assault charges laid after domestic incident

A 30-year-old Alvinston man is facing a number of charges after a violent incident outside of a home in Chatham-Kent.

Chatham-Kent police said the man is accused of assaulting a woman while he was returning his child to the mother's home Sunday morning.

The man is also accused of threatening the woman and another man who was in the home at the time. Police said the accused also allegedly used a hammer to damage a vehicle that was parked in the driveway.

Officers said through their investigation, they also learned it was not the first time the man the man had displayed violent behaviour.

He took off before police could arrive, but was later arrested by OPP and taken back to Chatham-Kent police headquarters.

A 30-year-old Alvinston man is now facing a number of weapons, assault, mischief, and threats-related charges. He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested after disturbance in Ridgetown

A 33-year-old man is facing drug-related charges after police found some hydromorphone while they were making an arrest in Ridgetown Sunday afternoon.

Chatham-Kent police allege they found the drugs while they were searching a man who was wanted by OPP on an outstanding warrant.

Police said the man was charged with drug possession, released from custody with a future court date, then turned over to OPP for court purposes.

ATV reported stolen in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent police are looking for a red and white 2016 Honda TRX250X Sportrax ATV that was reportedly stolen from a parking lot on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg sometime Sunday night.
