Tuesday night's thunderstorms led to a number of power outages across Chatham-Kent.
One of the largest outages reported was in the Tilbury area, where at its peak about 700 Hydro One customers were in the dark.
The power provider previously said the lights should be back on by 1 p.m. at the latest, but the estimated restoration time was removed because crews were still "assessing damage." Areas near North Buxton and Pain Court were also without power for several hours. Power was restored to the areas shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday evening.
As a result of the downpour and the resulting flooding from Tuesday night's storm, Tilbury District High School and Tilbury Area Public school are closed both Wednesday and Thursday for clean-up. The EarlyON child care at Tilbury Area Public School and the before-and-after school program will also be closed both days. Tilbury Area Public School will be open to staff on September 28, while staff at Tilbury District High School aren't expected to return to the school until October 1.
Power was also knocked out for some residents in Chatham, specifically in the area of Grand Avenue East and Elizabeth Street. Entegrus reported that power for Chatham customers had been restored at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

There are some scattered outages across Chatham-Kent, but Hydro One estimates that the power will be restored in those areas by Wednesday night.
