Voter cards are on the way ahead of municipal election

Chatham-Kent residents should expect to get voter cards in their mail soon for the upcoming municipal election.

Officials with the municipality sent out voter identification number (VIN) cards this week for people who have either registered or are on the voter's list.

Each card will have a name and address specified to the voter. If the information on the card is incorrect, corrections must be made. Residents can do so by going to a municipal service centre or by clicking here.

Eligible voters who do not receive a VIN card by September 28, are encouraged to go to a municipal service centre and fill out an application to amend the voter’s list form (EL 15).

Online voting will start on October 1 at 10 a.m. and end on October 14 at 10 p.m. Advance polls open October 11 and run until October 13. Election day is on October 22 with polls open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Blackburn News will be hosting a Meet Your Mayoral Candidates Evening, which will air on Country 92.9 FM /630 AM at 7 p.m. on October 17, 2018.
