Drivers caught allegedly racing in CK

Driving way too fast on the highway has led to court dates for a couple of drivers.

Provincial police in Chatham-Kent were out patrolling along Highway 401 Tuesday.

A 25-year-old male driver from Stouffville was stopped on near Duart Road around 10:30 a.m. He's accused of driving faster than 170 kilometres per hour. He is charged with racing a motor vehicle and will have to answer to the charge in court November 14. In addition to the charge, his driver's licence has been suspended and the vehicle he was driving has been impounded for a week.

In the same area of the highway around 5 p.m., officers pulled over another vehicle. A 20-year-old man from Mississauga is accused of driving over the posted speed limit. Officers said the vehicle was clocked going more than 180 km/h.

The Mississauga driver has been charged with racing a motor vehicle. He has a court date set for October 31.
