Pepper spray used in fight

One of two females involved in a fight used pepper or bear spray on the other. The 33-year-old was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and with administering a noxious substance. She has been released from custody with a future court date.

License suspended for impaired driving

A 47-year-old was issued a 3-day license suspension and had his vehicle towed after a traffic stop. Officers determined the driver was under the influence of a controlled substance and failed the Standard Field Sobriety Test.

Impaired driving causes collision

After responding to a motor vehicle collision in Chatham, police arrested a 24-year-old male for impaired driving. He was later released from custody with a future court date.

Break and enter suspect located and arrested

At 3 a.m. Sunday, police located a 39-year-old who was wanted for break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime, and failing to attend court. He was arrested on the outstanding warrants and is being held for a bail hearing.

School bus rule reminders

Chatham-Kent police are reminding drivers of the rules of the road with the increased bus traffic for back-to-school. Drivers can be charged if they pass a stopped school bus with its upper red lights flashing. First offences can result in fines up to $2,000 with six demerit points. Vehicle owners can also be charged even if they were not the ones driving at the time.
