Pow Wow In Moraviantown

The Delaware Nation at Moraviantown is holding its 46th annual Pow Wow this long weekend.

The grand entries will take place on Saturday at noon and 7pm, and Sunday at noon.

"Grand Entry is where all the dancers join in a circle along with the veterans carrying the flags," says coordinator Kamryn Whiteye. "Basically its an opening for the Pow Wow. It's a really great feeling, it's really great to watch."

Whiteye says they have a lot planned.

"We have dinners both days at 5pm at the community centre. We have smoke dance, hand drum contest, and we have a baby contest," says Whiteye.

Whiteye says this year's Pow Wow is a little different than years past.

"Usually we have competition and that's a lot more money prizes. But this year we wanted just to base it for Lunaapeew people," says Whiteye. "So we have singers coming down from New Jersey to do these Lunaapeew dances."

The cost to enter is Pow Wow is $5. For more information, CLICK HERE.
