Woman Allegedly Spits On Police Officer

If you spit on someone, you can be charged with assault.

Chatham-Kent police say that's what happened in Chatham Monday night, while officers were responding to a family dispute at a home on Longwoods Rd.

Officers say a woman, who had allegedly threatened some family members in the home and refused to leave, was being arrested when she allegedly pulled away from officers and caused a struggle.

She's also accused of spitting in an officer's face while she was being read her rights.

A 31-year-old woman of no fixed address is now charged with assaulting a police officer and three counts of uttering threats and is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Four People Arrested On Outstanding Warrants

Chatham-Kent police managed to track down four suspects on Monday who were wanted for a variety of offences.

And they didn't have to go very far to find two of them.

Officers say a 29-year-old man who was wanted for assault, assault with a weapon, and two counts of uttering threats turned himself in at police headquarters Monday morning.

Police say the charges were laid in connection with a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham on August 16.

A 31-year-old Raleigh Township man also turned himself in Monday. He was accused of failing to comply with a probation order.

A 28-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested on an outstanding warrant Monday afternoon. He was wanted in connection with an alleged assault on a teen back in 2017.

And the fourth person arrested on an outstanding warrant Monday was a 35-year-old Chatham woman who was wanted for fraud, assault, and mischief.

Alleged Shoplifter Targets TSC

Chatham-Kent police say a 47-year-old Erieau woman is charged with theft and possession of stolen property after they received a shoplifting complaint at TSC on St. Clair St. in Chatham.

Officers say she was arrested Monday afternoon, charged, and released with a future court date.

Trailer Stolen In Ridgetown

Police are asking for the public's help as they try to track down a silver 2015 Mara 600 utility trailer that was stolen from a property on Tiffany St. in Ridgetown recently.

Officers say it was taken sometime over the past three days, adding it was last seen with the Ontario licence plate M8391Y.

Yard Maintenance Equipment Stolen

Chatham-Kent police are also trying to recover a leaf blower, a weed eater, a hedge trimmer, a cultivator, and some gas that were all stolen from a shed on Twilight Trail in Chatham.

Police say they were taken sometime between 5pm Sunday and 8:30am Monday.

Jewelry, Sweaters Stolen During Break-In

Officers are appealing to the public for tips as they try to solve a break-in that took place at an apartment on McNaughton Ave. W in Chatham.

Police say someone broke in sometime late Sunday night or early Monday morning and took off with a gold chain, a white gold chain, a Nike sweatshirt, a Toronto Raptors sweatshirt, and a PS4 gaming system.

The total value of the stolen items is $1,700.
