Calling All Youth! CKy Advisory Group Seeks Members

The municipality is looking for members to join its newly formed Chatham-Kent to the Power of Young People Advisory Group.

The CKy Advisory Group is being created as a response to feedback from the 2017 CKy survey that showed only 22% of young people feel their contributions to Chatham-Kent are valued.

According to the municipality, the group will help make young people's voices heard by facilitating discussion and providing feedback to council on matters that impact the attraction, retention, and engagement of young people locally.

“This is an important initiative to support CK Plan 2035, to make Chatham-Kent a welcoming community and an attractive place for many different groups to call home, especially as we plan for future generations and work to future-proof our community,” says Community Attraction and Promotion Manager Audrey Ansell.

The group will consist of 12 members, between the ages of 15-39, who work, live, or study in Chatham-Kent. The municipality says it will strive to form a group that is reflective of Chatham-Kent’s population in terms of race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, ability, and economic status. Members will also represent diverse areas of knowledge, expertise, and interest, as well as the geography of Chatham-Kent.

Those interested in joining should apply online by Friday, August 24 at 4:30pm. If you would like a hard copy of the application, you can email livingck@chatham-kent.ca or call 519-360-1998 to request one.
