Now A Done Deal -- Final Candidates Running In The 2018 Municipal Election

The period to file nomination papers to run in the upcoming municipal election has officially come to an end.

In the last week before the deadline, several residents threw their hat in the ring. However, a couple of people withdrew from running for a position on council.

Current East Kent Councillor David VanDamme withdrew his registration on Friday, deciding not to seek re-election. Meanwhile, Chris Glassford who had filed his papers to run for a spot on council in Ward 5 (Wallaceburg) also withdrew his name this week.

Chatham-Kent now also has six mayoral candidates; Allan Traylor filed his nomination paper on Thursday.

Residents will head to the polls October 22, 2018.

Below is a current list of people running for a position on Chatham-Kent council. The names in bold are those who filed their papers this week.

There are six mayoral candidates, they include Mayor Randy Hope, Councillor Darrin Canniff, local advocate Alysson Storey, Chatham resident Robert Salvatore Powers, East Kent resident Harold Atkinson, and Chatham resident Allan Robert Traylor.

Lambton-Kent District School Board

Wards 4-5 (One seat) – Janet Barnes
