Theft Complaint At Walmart Leads To Charges

Chatham-Kent police say a 28-year-old man is in trouble with the law again after someone reported a theft at the Walmart in Wallaceburg.

Officers say through their investigation, they learned the man accused of shoplifting was also wanted for breaching his release conditions.

The man police arrested in connection with the case is now facing charges and has been released with conditions and a future court date.

Assault Charges Laid In Chatham

A 45-year-old Blenheim man has been arrested in connection with a domestic assault investigation in Chatham.

Officers say they arrested him after getting a call early Thursday morning.

He's charged with assault and uttering threats and is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Charge Laid After Crash

A 67-year-old Merlin man is charged with failing to avoid a collision after he crashed a vehicle into a motorcycle that was parked at the side of the road.

Police say it happened Wednesday morning on Wellington St. in Chatham.

The damages are estimated at $5,500 and no injuries were reported.

Two Crashes Under Investigation

Chatham-Kent police say two crashes that took place in Chatham Wednesday night are still under investigation.

The first one took place at the intersection of St. Clair St. and McNaughton Ave. in Chatham. Police say minor injuries were reported and the total damages are estimated at $20,000.

The second crash took place on Richmond St.

Police say it involved a cyclist and that minor injuries were reported. The damages in that crash are estimated at $200.
