'FOGaritaville' Theme Highlights 2018 Festival Of Golf

Anyone looking to participate in this year's Festival of Golf better get in line because all the spots are spoken for and the waiting list is growing fast.

The Children's Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent officially announced plans for one of its biggest fundraisers of the year Tuesday afternoon.

This year's theme is a play on a Jimmy Buffett classic as it is being called "Fogaritaville." The first hole is being called  "Cheese Burger in Paradise" and there will be three hole-in-one challenges where players will have a chance to win a trip to St. Andrew's, a new F-150 truck, or $50,000.

Mike Genge, executive director of the foundation, said this year's grand prize is a 2018 Ford Mustang -- both the pickup truck and the car come with no strings attached, as the winners will walk away owning them outright.

Genge added they changed last year's hole-in-one challenge, which saw just a handful of players of the 152 total participating get a shot for $1-million.

"I think we only allowed 12," Genge said. "This year it is for $50,000, but it is for every golfer. So this year we are spreading it out a little more."

Genge was really excited about some of the live auction prizes as well, which feature a Caddyshack picture signed by the cast and a boxing glove signed by none other than Mike Tyson, George Foreman, Joe Fraser, Floyd Mayweather, and Muhammad Ali.

It might be surprising that all 152 spots are already spoken for, especially at a price tag of $750 a player, but Genge said it is all for a great cause.

"It is all going towards the Butterfly Building Campaign and we'll use it to keep boosting our numbers," Genge said. "It's not long after golf I get people calling and saying they want to make sure they have a team for golf the next year."

He added each hole will have a special event going on like human billiards, a margarita station, and a pig roast just to name a few.

The tournament will take place on September 7 at the Willow Ridge Golf and Country Club. Tee off is scheduled for 11am.
