A local Subway owner is celebrating 25 years in business in Chatham-Kent.
Dave McCready owns six locations and says it all started in Wallaceburg back in 1993.
"I worked in a factory most of my life, Libby Container in Wallaceburg," he says. "They closed and I wound up going to work at a courier company in Sarnia, and I was eating at Subway and that's how I got the idea that Wallaceburg could use one of these."
McCready now owns six Subway locations, the one in Wallaceburg, four in Chatham, and he co-owns the one in Dresden with his nephew.
"The rest just kind of took place," says McCready. "After about five years I bought another one, then another one, and I just kept going."
To celebrate they are offering a buy one sub and a drink, and get a second sub for 25-cents on Saturday, July 7 from 11am to 7pm.
McCready says he isn't planning on opening any more locations, but never say never.
"I had five, I said 'I'm not opening anymore,' and next thing I know I bought another one," he says. "So I can't say tomorrow that somebody's going to say 'want to put one in here?' and I'm not going to say yes, I mean I'll say yes, probably."
