Police Briefs - Friday July 6, 2018

A 20-year-old Chatham man is facing a few charges for allegedly shoplifting.

Police say officers were called to the Downtown Chatham Centre Thursday afternoon. The man took off on foot but officers were able to make an arrest on Murray St. During a search, officers say they found a small bag of hydromorphone tablets inside of the suspect's mouth.

The 20-year-old is now charged with drug possession, theft under $5,000, and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

A 27-year-old woman from Miami, Florida might have hit a bump in her July 4 plans.

Chatham-Kent OPP pulled a vehicle over on the Hwy. 401 near Duart Rd., around 9:15pm. Police say the driver is charged with having a speed measuring warning device in the vehicle.

Not following probation conditions has landed a teenager in more trouble with the law.

A 15-year-old Chatham teen wanted for breaching conditions had been arrested Thursday. Police say the teen is now charged with two counts of failing to comply.

A 24-year-old Wallaceburg man is facing charges following a domestic disturbance.

Police say officers were called about an incident that allegedly happened at a Wallaceburg home Wednesday night.

The 24-year-old had been arrested Friday morning and charged with assault with a weapon, two counts of assault and two counts of mischief under $5,000.
