Fraud Suspect Arrested

A 51-year-old Dover Township man is facing more than a dozen charges after allegedly stealing some cheques from a client.

Police say the man was hired to perform some general contracting work at a local man's home between June 2017 and January 2018, during which time he allegedly stole six cheques and "fraudulently used them."

Officers say the man was arrested Wednesday night in connection with the investigation and is now charged with six counts each of possession of stolen property, uttering a forged document, and fraud.

He has been released with conditions and a future court date.

Wanted Wednesday Warrants Wrap-Up

Chatham-Kent police say they managed to pick up four wanted criminals on Wednesday.

They include a 57-year-old Windsor man who was wanted for allegedly defrauding a Blenheim man for home renovations that were never completed, a 35-year-old man accused of violating his parole, and a 29-year-old Wallaceburg man who was charged in connection with a domestic disturbance late last month.

In addition to those three arrests, police say they picked up a 35-year-old Chatham man who was wanted for failing to show up for a scheduled court hearing on April 6.

Officers say they found the man on a bicycle in the Walmart parking lot yesterday, but he allegedly took off when he saw police, climbed on top of a nearby tractor trailer parked behind the Superstore, and threatened to harm himself.

Police say they were able to talk him down and arrest him safely. He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
