McNaughton Ready To Bring Rural Issues To Legislature

Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton says now is the time for rural Ontario to have more of a say at Queen's Park.

McNaughton celebrated his re-election Thursday night at the Royal Canadian Legion in Mount Brydges.

"The people of Lambton-Kent-Middlesex have wanted change [for a number of elections] and tonight they're going to get it," says McNaughton.

"I'm looking forward to being part of the team that's going to deliver change for families right across Ontario," he says.

With McNaughton standing alongside area PC MPP's like Rick Nicholls and Bob Bailey, he expects things to be different at Queen's Park.

"Southwestern and rural Ontario has long been neglected by the Liberals... we're going to have a strong voice inside of a Doug Ford majority government," he says.

One of the first issues McNaughton wants to address is the concerns local residents have made regarding wind turbines.

"A number of issues were raised during the election in the last four weeks," he says. "I want to get that Otter Creek Wind turbine project stopped down in Chatham-Kent. I want to ensure that the people of North Kent get that health hazard investigation that they rightfully deserve."

In the meantime, McNaughton will be taking a bit of a break after a busy campaign period, to spend some time with his wife Kate and their daughter.

"We're going to take a few days and take down some lawn signs, thank our volunteers, spend time with family, and then we'll get back to work next week," he says.
