Police Briefs - Wednesday June 6, 2018

A 29-year-old man wanted for trespassing and attempted theft is now facing even more trouble with the law.

Police say they stopped the 29-year-old Wednesday morning at around 2:15am in Wallaceburg for riding a bicycle without a light. The officer recognized the wanted man and arrested him. During their search, officers say they found methamphetamine and stolen property.

The man they arrested is now facing additional charges for drug possession, two counts of theft, and two counts of being in possession of property obtained by a crime.

Chatham-Kent police arrested a 37-year-old man Wednesday morning after he allegedly stole some items from the Real Canadian Superstore in Chatham.

Police say the man left the store with items in his jacket on Sunday. He has since been charged with theft and possession of property obtained by a crime.

A 39-year-old Wallaceburg man has been arrested after he allegedly threatened his family members.

Police say they made the arrest after getting a call Tuesday afternoon about a domestic disturbance.

A 39-year-old has been charged with three counts of uttering threats. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

A Windsor man has been charged after getting caught speeding with a suspended license in Chatham-Kent.

A Chatham-Kent OPP officer's RADAR gun showed a westbound vehicle was going over the posted speed limit of 100km/hr on Hwy.401 near Merlin Rd. on Tuesday at around 8:45pm.

While speaking with the driver, the officer discovered the driver was currently suspended from driving.

A 38-year-old Windsor man has been charged with driving while under suspension and speeding.

Police are trying to track down a couple of stolen items.

In one case, an EZ Loader boat trailer was taken from a home on Eleventh Line, sometime between June 1 and June 5. The twin axle white trailer was last seen with the Ontario licence plate K68 91V. It's worth about $4,000.

In the meantime, police are also trying to find an orange Husqvarna 19HP riding lawnmower and yellow Champion 4,000 watt gas generator. They were reported stolen from a residence on North River Line in Wallaceburg. They're worth approximately $2,400.

Chatham-Kent police have arrested a 38-year-old Chatham man for allegedly breaking one of his release conditions.

Police say the 38-year-old was released from custody in April. One of the conditions he had to follow was notifying police of any address changes. Officers say the Chatham man wasn't living where he should have been. He's now charged with failing to comply and will have to go to court June 26.
