Stolen Truck Charges

Two youths have been charged after a truck was reported stolen in Tilbury Thursday morning.

Chatham-Kent police a 2017 silver Chevrolet Silverado was reported stolen from a parking lot on Queen St. N. An hour later, officers spotted the truck in the area of St. Clair St. in Chatham and arrested four people during a high-risk stop.

A 17-year-old girl from Chatham and an 18-year-old Tilbury man have been charged with theft over $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime over $5,000.

Stolen Vehicles

Chatham-Kent police are trying to recover a couple of stolen vehicles.

Investigators say sometime between Wednesday at 9pm and Thursday at 7am, someone stole a 2002 grey Ford Explorer from a home on Sydenham St. in Dresden. The SUV was last seen with Ontario licence plates AVJH-066.

Then sometime between Tuesday at 3pm and Thursday at 3pm, somebody stole a 2006 burgundy Honda CRV from a parking lot on Grand Ave. W. in Chatham. The vehicle was last seen with Ontario licence plates BLSH-985.

Red Light Runner

A 17-year-old from Chatham has been charged with failing to stop for a red light after a four-vehicle crash in Chatham.

Police say it happened at the intersection of Richmond St. and Keil Dr. Thursday night shortly after 9:30pm.

Minor injuries were reported.

Speeding Charges

Six drivers were charged with speeding during a traffic enforcement blitz across Chatham-Kent.

Police conducted speed enforcement on Erie Shore Dr. Thursday afternoon and nabbed the alleged lead-foots.

Then Thursday morning, police stopped 19 vehicles on Allison Line but no charges were laid.

Chatham-Kent police remind drivers that traffic enforcement will continue across the community in an effort to keep our roads safe.
