Wanted Man Arrested In Wallaceburg
Chatham-Kent police say they can take another name off of their wanted list after officers arrested a 31-year-old man Tuesday night.
Officers say he was arrested after police got a shoplifting complaint at the No Frills in Wallaceburg.
Investigators say the man was seen hiding meat, cookies, and chocolate bars under his clothes while he was in the store. Police say they found about $85 worth of food on him when they arrested him.
Officers say the man was also wanted in connection with some previous thefts from the store earlier in the week.
The accused is charged with three counts of theft and one count of possession of stolen property.
Police say the man was also wanted on outstanding warrants for property-related offences, breaching his release conditions, and failing to attend court.
Police Arrest Theft Suspect In Blenheim
A 22-year-old woman is facing charges after police got a tip about a drill and some personal documents that were stolen from a vehicle in Blenheim.
Police say sometime either late Sunday night or early Monday morning, someone broke into an unlocked vehicle on Catherine St. and stole a DeWalt 20v cordless drill, a lunchbox, and some personal documents.
Officers say they were able to make an arrest Tuesday night in connection with the case after following up on some information they received earlier this week that some of the stolen property was at another residence in Blenheim.
The woman they arrested is now charged with possession of stolen property and failing to comply with her release conditions.
Theft Charges After Baby Monitor Stolen
Chatham-Kent police say two people are facing charges after some fishing equipment and a baby monitor were stolen from the Walmart in Wallaceburg.
Police say they made the arrests after getting a shoplifting complaint Tuesday afternoon. Investigators say they were able to track down a pair of suspects thanks to a tip describing the female suspect and the getaway vehicle.
An officer on general patrol located the vehicle on Hwy. 40, pulled it over, and arrested the driver and the passenger.
Police were able to recover some stolen goods from the vehicle, which was later towed from the scene.
A 28-year-old Chatham woman and a 37-year-old Chatham woman are both charged with theft and possession of stolen property.
