Police Briefs – Wednesday April 4, 2018

A Brampton woman has been arrested for being intoxicated in public after she allegedly harassed people on a Chatham-bound Via Rail train.

Police say officers waited at the Chatham station for the incoming train Tuesday night. A 34-year-old woman was arrested and taken off of the train. She stayed in police custody until sober.


A 21-year-old Bothwell man is facing several assault charges after police were called about a domestic disturbance.

Chatham-Kent police say officers were called Monday morning. It’s alleged that domestic violence between the suspect and his girlfriend has happened in the past.

The 21-year-old has been charged with seven counts of assault, forcible confinement, and theft under $5,000.


Police are investigating a break-in in which $5,000 worth of tools were reported stolen.

During the day on Tuesday, police say someone went into an unlocked shed on Pinehurst Line in Harwich Township.

A couple of other unrelated thefts are also being investigated by Chatham-Kent police.

Sometime late Monday night or early Tuesday morning, police say someone stole a red and white 2005 Kawasaki F75 ATV from a home on Florence Rd. The ATV is worth approximately $2,000.

Police say they’re also looking into another theft in which a trailer was reported stolen. Sometime between April 2 and April 3, police say someone stole a 6×10 enclosed aluminum trailer, worth $4,000. The trailer was last seen with an Ontario marker P57 26P.
