Repairs Force Temporary Move For Wallaceburg ER

The Emergency Department at the hospital in Wallaceburg is moving -- but it's only temporary.

A news release from the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) says starting Thursday, February 22, patients who need emergency medical assistance in Wallaceburg should enter through the front doors of the hospital.

The waiting room will be in the foyer of the front entrance and anyone who requires care will be called by a staff member to the temporary triage in room 124.

The hospital is making the move because of scheduled maintenance in the Emergency Department wing, which will be accessible again through its regular entrance once the repairs are completed -- that's expected to be done by early March.

Signs have been posted at the hospital directing people where they should go and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) staff have been notified of the change. CKHA volunteers will also be available to help direct patients to the proper waiting room area during daytime hours.
