Drugs Recovered During Traffic Stop

Chatham-Kent police say they arrested an alleged drug dealer after pulling over a vehicle on Wellington St. near Raleigh St. in Chatham.

Police say when they pulled the vehicle over, they learned the man who was behind the wheel was currently banned from driving. Officers say they also found some suspected crystal methamphetamine, digital scales, and small clear plastic baggies when they searched the vehicle.

A 39-year-old Chatham man is now charged with two counts of driving under suspension and one count of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking. He has been released with conditions and a future court date.

Charge Laid After Crash

A 65-year-old Merlin man is charged with failing to yield the right of way after a two-vehicle crash on Queen St. near Superior St. in Tilbury.

Police say no one was hurt as a result of the crash. The damages are estimated at $2,500.

Police Searching For Stolen Jewelry

Chatham-Kent police say they’re still trying to track down some jewelry that was stolen from a home on Communication Rd. south of Fairview Line back on Monday, January 15.

Officers say someone broke in and stole about $750 worth of valuables.

Investigators say a suspicious vehicle was also seen driving away from the home at the time — it’s described as black with a long red light bar sitting on the trunk near the rear window.

Police say since that report came in, officers have also received other reports of a vehicle that matches that description acting suspiciously in other areas of the municipality.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers or CK police.
