Police Briefs – Thursday February 8, 2018

Two men have been arrested after they allegedly tried to break into a home in Chatham.

Police say the two men parked a black sports cars at a residence on Longwoods Rd. Wednesday night.

One of the suspects allegedly forced open a sliding door on the second floor after an elderly resident refused to open the front door. However, the suspect ran off after the homeowner surprised him.

Both suspects left the area but were later found by police.

The two were arrested for break and enter, possession of break-in tools, possession of unlawful drugs, and breaching their bail conditions.


A man found sleeping under a bridge has been arrested for breaking his bail conditions.

Police say officers spotted a 54-year-old man under the Princess St. bridge in Chatham, beside the creek bed.

The man was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing.
