Police Briefs – Thursday, February 1, 2018

A traffic stop has resulted in several charges against a Chatham man.

Police pulled over a vehicle on Taylor Ave. in Chatham around 10pm Wednesday, but as the officer walked towards the car, the driver tried to get out.

He was immediately stopped, and an investigation found that the 28-year-old was suspended from driving for unpaid fines.

A search of the man and his vehicle allegedly turned up a number of drugs, including hydro-morphine, morphine, cocaine, and crack cocaine.

He’s been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession for trafficking.

A Chatham woman has been charged with criminal harassment after police allege she wouldn’t stop calling a Wallaceburg woman.

Officers learned that between June 2016 and January 2018, the Chatham woman continued to call the other woman.

The 63-year-old suspect was arrested and charged Wednesday night.

A Moraviantown man is in trouble with police say he failed to show up for his court date.

The 35-year-old was released from custody earlier this month, but missed his scheduled court date on Monday.

Police located him Wednesday afternoon and charged him with failing to attend court. He is in custody while he waits for a bail hearing.
