Police Nab Impaired Driver In Chatham

Chatham-Kent police say they’ve set up a date for a 31-year-old Chatham man on Valentine’s Day, but it probably won’t be very romantic.

Police say an officer on general patrol pulled a vehicle over at around 2:30am Monday and suspected the driver had been drinking alcohol.

He was then taken to police headquarters for testing, charged with having a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit, and released with a court date of February 14.

Driving While Suspended

A 62-year-old Wallaceburg man is finding out the hard way that you shouldn’t get behind the wheel when you’re suspended from driving.

Chatham-Kent police say an officer pulled the man over while he was driving a vehicle in the area of Arnold St. and Garnet St. in Wallaceburg over the noon-hour on Sunday.

Police say the man’s driver’s licence had been suspended due to medical reasons, so he was charged with driving while under suspension.
