A Wallaceburg man is facing charges after allegedly assaulting his partner and threatening to hurt himself.

Police say on Friday, officers responded to a domestic disturbance in Wallaceburg.

According to police, a man assaulted his partner then barricaded himself inside his residence, threatening to hurt himself.

Police were able to calm the man down and get him to leave the residence peacefully.

A 51-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with multiple assaults, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and mischief under $5,000.

The man was held pending a bail hearing.

A Blenheim man has been arrested after police connected him to a stolen credit card.

Police say on Wednesday, officers discovered a 24-year-old Blenheim man breached a court-ordered condition to obey a curfew and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Then on Thursday, police say a Visa credit card was reported stolen in Blenheim. Police say the card was used at a local store on Wednesday, just after it had been stolen.

Based on video surveillance from the store,  charges were laid against the Blenheim man.

Police say on Friday, the man was found and arrested at his residence.

The man was charged with failure to comply with recognizance, possession of stolen property, two counts of possession of stolen credit card, and unauthorized use of credit card.

He was held pending a bail hearing.
