Police Briefs – Wednesday December 27, 2017

Stealing might be okay in video games, but not in real life.

Police say a Chatham man allegedly walked out of the Chatham Walmart Sunday night without paying for three video games.

Officers found the man in the store’s parking lot. A 36-year-old man is charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime.

He has a court date set for January 24, 2018.

A 39-year-old Chatham man is facing several charges following a traffic stop.

Police say a vehicle was stopped near Thames St. and Grand Ave. E in Chatham on December 19.

During a search, officers found brass knuckles, which went against the man’s probation conditions.

As a result, the 39-year-old has been charged with two counts of driving while under suspension, using altered validation, failing to surrender a permit, failing to provide proof of insurance, using plates not authorized, failing to comply, and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Police say he was arrested with two separate court dates, both set to happen in the new year.
