Flyers Topple Maroons 6-2

The Chatham Maroons fell 6-2 in a rough loss to the Leamington Flyers on Thursday.

Chatham kicked off the game with Jake O`Donnell scoring 1:39 into the first period. However, Cody Schneider, Nathan Skulley and Kenny Styles scored back-to-back goals to put Leamington in the lead.  Blake Bain added two more goals before the end of the first to give the Flyers a 5-1 advantage heading into the second.

Jake Nimmo scored the only goal of the second period to add to Leamington's strong lead over the Maroons.

Dawson Garcia scored Chatham's second goal of the night in the final frame, but the Flyers were able to keep a four goal advantage to earn the win.

"You come come in with a game plan, you score first, you think you're doing well," says Maroons Head Coach Ron Horvat. "And when they came down [on us], their first four to five shots went in, and we can't have that."

The Flyers will travel to Komoka on Saturday to take on the Kings at 7:15pm. And then on Sunday, the Maroons face off against the Sarnia Legionnaires in Chatham at 4pm.
