Man Allegedly Knocks Out His Wife’s Tooth

Chatham-Kent police say a 53-year-old Chatham man is facing charges after allegedly hitting his wife in the jaw and threatening her life.

Police say the man allegedly hit his wife so hard Tuesday night that one of her teeth fell out.

Officers say when the woman tried to call police, the man allegedly grabbed the phone and threw it outside. When the woman went outside to get it back, the man allegedly locked her out and started threatening her.

When police arrived, they arrested a suspect and charged him with assault and uttering threats. He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.


Man Accused Of Assaulting Two Women

In a separate incident, police say a 25-year-old Chatham man is accused of assaulting two women that he knows outside of a bar on St. Clair St. earlier this month.

Police say at around 2:30am on Sunday, November 12, the man allegedly threw one of the women to the ground and hit another woman in the face several times.

Officers say the first woman didn’t report any injuries, but the second woman reportedly suffered a concussion and some bruises.

The women later reported the incident to police, but officers couldn’t find the man right away, so they issued a warrant for his arrest.

Police say the accused turned himself in at the police station at around 3:30am Wednesday. He was then charged with two counts of assault and held in custody pending a bail hearing.


Alleged Speeder Pulled Over On Kent Bridge Rd.

A 20-year-old Dresden man will have to get around without his driver’s license for at least a week after he was allegedly caught speeding Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the vehicle the man was driving was recorded going more than 50 km/h over the 90 km/h speed limit on Kent Bridge Rd. at around 1pm Tuesday.

His vehicle has been impounded and his driver’s license has been taken away for a week. He’s also facing a future court date.


Superstore Theft

Chatham-Kent police need your help identifying a woman who stole a mixer from the Real Canadian Superstore at 791 St. Clair St. N. in Chatham on November 6 at 7:30pm.

Investigators say the woman allegedly took a $400 KitchenAid Mixer off the shelf and left the store.
