Smile Cookie Campaign Raises Over $20K For Children's Treatment Centre

Many kids at the Children's Treatment Centre Foundation will be left with happy faces, after over $20,000 worth of Smile Cookies were purchased at Chatham-Kent Tim Hortons.

Recently, Tim Hortons in Chatham, Dresden, and Wallaceburg participated in the national week-long Smile Cookie campaign. Chatham-Kent residents enjoyed $1 Smile Cookies from September 11 to 17, with all proceeds going towards the Children's Treatment Centre Foundation's Butterfly Building Campaign.

On Monday, Tim Hortons owners in Chatham-Kent presented members of the Children's Treatment Centre Foundation with a cheque for $20,068.

Paula Grail, who is the owner of Chatham, Dresden, and Wallaceburg Tim Hortons locations, says she is thrilled with how this year's campaign went.

"It was very successful. We always have fun with it and the staff have a lot of fun. We really appreciate the community coming out and supporting it. We raised a lot of money for such a great cause," says Grail.

Grail says the money will help support programs at the Children's Treatment Centre Foundation for children with developmental, augmentative, physical, and occupational delays.

Children's Treatment Centre Foundation Executive Director Mike Genge adds that the funds will support the building of a larger more accessible, and state of the art facility.

"The new building will include accessibility enhancements, reduced wait lists, more therapy space, family resource, education and meeting space, space for groups, specialized clinics and specialized equipment," says Genge.

Grail says the foundation is such a great cause to give back to.

"Kids are such an important part of our community and we need to really give them a good basis, because they're the ones that are going to be carrying this community forward," says Grail.

Children's Treatment Centre Executive Director Donna Litwin-Makey says she is fortunate to have such strong support from local Tim Hortons owners.

"Chatham Kent Tim Hortons have been long-time, major supporters of the CTC and Foundation and we're extremely appreciative of their continued support," she says.
