Capitol Theatre Gets New Manager

A new manager is moving in at the Chatham Capitol Theatre.

The municipality announced Wednesday afternoon that the position was filled by Chatham-Kent native Heather Slater.

According to a media release, Slater has 18 years of experience in performing arts administration, and has most recently worked as director of artistic planning at the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra.

In addition to Slater's roles at the Capitol Theatre, she'll be working with the Kiwanis Theatre and other entertainment venues within the municipality as well.

“I’m excited to return home to Chatham-Kent and take on this important role,” said Slater in a media release. “I look forward to shaping the future direction of the Capitol and Kiwanis, and engaging with the local theatre groups and all our residents looking for a variety of theatre and entertainment options.”

The theatre's current manager Lesley Grand will retire in December after spending the past 28 years managing the Capitol and the Kiwanis Theatres.
