Police Briefs – Thursday, October 26, 2017

Mischief charges have been laid after a man defecated in the garbage room of a Chatham apartment building and smeared it on the floor.

Police say the man got into the secure apartment building around 12:15pm on Tuesday by following a resident inside.

Officers were able to identify a suspect thanks to video surveillance. The 42-year-old was arrested and charged with mischief.

Allegedly violating two conditions of his probation has landed a Chatham man back behind bars.

The 26-year-old, who had a daily curfew of 11pm to 7am, was allegedly stopped just after 6am Thursday walking on Raleigh St.

During the arrest, officers allegedly found bolt cutters and a flashlight on him.

He’s charged with two counts of failing to comply and possession of break and enter tools.

Police are investigating a break and enter on Ocean Line in Wheatley.

Wednesday at noon, a television and several power tools were stolen.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Chatham-Kent police, or Crime Stoppers.
