Fantuz Teaching Football Fundamentals In Chatham

Chatham's Andy Fantuz is back in town Tuesday, teaching local athletes about football fundamentals.

The CFL All-Star wide receiver has been sidelined for the current football season because of a knee injury, but that's not stopping him from helping others off the field.

Fantuz says they'll be teaching a wide range of skills at a clinic at Chatham-Kent Secondary School.

"Both offensive and defensive line, we'll have a lot of fun with the Chatham-Kent Cougars and I'll be there giving some input as well, it'll be a day," says Fantuz.

Fantuz is able to make the trip because the Hamilton Tiger-Cats have a bye this week in the CFL schedule.

The veteran wide receiver has been working as the Tiger-Cats' Coordinator of Player Development while he is sidelined with a knee injury.

"I'm about nine months from my surgery, so I'm basically just right at that point where I'm getting back on the field and getting ready to go," says Fantuz. "Our season is unfortunately not going as well as we had hoped, but I'm getting pretty close to being back on the field."

Tonight's football clinic at CKSS will take place from 6pm to 8pm and will also feature QB specialist coach Dave Hockin from London along with several Chatham-Kent Cougar Football players and coaches.

The cost is $25 -- anyone interested should contact seljordan@sympatico.ca, but registrations are also welcome at the door.
