CK Welcomes New Child Care Positions

Up to a dozen new child care staff will be hired to support the Municipality of Chatham-Kent's early years programs.

Council approved a motion to hire up to 12 full-time equivalent positions at Monday night's council meeting. These positions will be fully funded by the province.

In February 2016, the Ministry of Education announced its plan to integrate and transform all existing child and family programs funded by the ministry. On March 21, 2017, it was determined that the Municipality of Chatham-Kent would directly deliver Ontario Early Years Child and Family Programs.

The municipality will receive $1,328,621 annually from the province to support the costs of operation and management of the programs.

The positions open include one supervisor, four to seven facilitators, two client and system support staff, one literary specialist, and one project coordinator and policy analyst.
