Boonies Drive-In Theatre Open for Camping

The Boonies Drive-In Theatre near Tilbury is having it's first ever camping weekend to celebrate Canada's 150th.

Manager Jarod Shiefer says this will be the first weekend the drive-in offers camping for movie-watchers.

"We have a triple feature, then we're going to try out, for the first time, overnight camping. We're going to have it out here in the field, then later on in the season we'll actually have it in the bush," says Shiefer.

The three movies playing in the triple feature are Despicable Me 3, The Mummy, and Fate of the Furious.

Aside from camping, Shiefer says alcohol at the drive-in may be a possibility soon too.

"We've also got requests for a liquor license, so we might actually look into that at some point," he says.

Shiefer says there are also other free Canadian Day festivities for families to enjoy.

"We're going to have pulled pork fresh off the spit and a chicken wagon. [Those] are free to attend," says Shiefer.

The triple feature will cost regular admission prices, according to Shiefer.
