High Hopes For High Heels

Don't be surprised if you see a large group of men stumbling around downtown Chatham in red heels on Saturday.

They'll be taking part in the ninth annual Walk A Mile In Her Shoes event.

The Chatham-Kent Women’s Centre's executive director, Karen Hunter, says they're expecting a good crowd.

"It's a fun event, but it also has a very serious tone as well," says Hunter. "We're trying to end sexualized violence and abuse against women in our community."

All of the money that is raised at the event goes directly to the operating costs for the Chatham-Kent Women’s Centre.

Last year's event raised more than $20,000.

Several streets in downtown Chatham will be closed from about 12:15pm to 1pm on Saturday for the walk.

The route is as follows: Walkers will start at the Kings Court, Downtown Chatham Centre and proceed north on 5th St., west on Thames St., south on 3rd St., east on King St. W to return and conclude at Kings Court, Downtown Chatham Centre.

You can still sign up for the walk by clicking here.
