Chatham-Kent police will have a new state of the art mobile command post next year.
The current one is a 25-year-old trailer and has become obsolete.
Chief Gary Conn says the new mobile home style vehicle will act like a "headquarters on wheels" to keep the community and officers safe if a major catastrophe ever happens.
"The heart of the centre is technology driven. There's network connectivity capability, communication dispatch capability and there's a 25 times optical zoom pole camera," says the chief.
Conn says the fully loaded, $750,000 mobile command post vehicle will be operational next year.

Conn says the new vehicle comes with "plug and play" technology and will bring the service into the 21st century.
"There's a 25 times optical zoom pole camera and it'll have night vision cameras and will have a direct link with our services drone," says Conn.
Conn says the new mobile command post will benefit the community and his officers deal with large scale incidents.
"This is just not for the police service, this is more so for enhanced service for the citizens that we serve in Chatham-Kent. There are so many events that this thing is utilized for, for example search and rescue," Conn says.
