Dresden Slots Getting Rebranded

New gaming tables and restaurants could soon join the slot machines at Dresden Raceway if the market calls for them.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has officially signed a 20-year agreement with Gateway Casinos and Entertainment to operate six locations in Southwestern Ontario.

Gateway Casinos says it plans to spend $200-million in Southwestern Ontario to improve the customer experience but VP of Communications Carrie Kormos says it's unclear how much will be invested in Dresden.

"It's a bit premature to have the exact details of what we're spending where, other than to say, we're making significant investments in these communities across Southwestern Ontario," says Kormos.

Gateway Casinos officially took over as service provider May 9.

It also operates in BC and Edmonton and is expanding into Northern Ontario, making it Canada's largest and most diversified gaming company.

Kormos says it's premature to reveal investment details right now and adds they will be finalized in the comings weeks and months.

"We very much rely on what our market studies and assessments tell us about what will be successful in any community.  Whether it's tables, restaurants, you name it.  So, we'll be looking at all of those," Kormos says.

Kormos says it's been a gruelling process but very worth while.

"Now we are anxious and excited to turn our heads and finalizing the next chapter, which is our site development plans and redevelopment plans for Southwestern Ontario," says Kormos.
