Going Off With A Boom

Chatham residents can expect to see fireworks this summer to celebrate Canada's 150th.

GreenField Specialty Alcohols Inc. will be putting forward about $25,000 for fireworks to go off in town.

Plant manager Angelo Ligori says this all came about when one of the company's employees, Dave Johnston, made a few trips to Ligori's office.

"I said Dave it's on my list of things to do, but it costs money," says Ligori.

It just so happens that this year also marks a special anniversary for the company.

"This year it's our 20th anniversary for the plant and it's the 150th for Canada, so I was able to get the company to kind of play those two themes together," says Ligori. "I think it's a pretty nice community event that'll bring a lot of good things to Chatham."

Fireworks will be at St. Clair College on June 30th.
