Five UFO Sightings In the CK Area

If you saw some strange lights in the sky above Chatham-Kent last year, you're not alone.

A report published by Winnipeg-based Ufology Research says that there were three different unidentified flying object (UFO) sightings reported in Chatham-Kent in 2016 and another two reported from the Walpole Island First Nation.

All of the local sightings were classified as simple point sources of light. That's also the most popular shape of UFO reported in 2016 -- 57% of the reported sightings last year fall into that category.

The sightings on Walpole Island both took place at 9pm on January 3, 2016. One of those witnesses reported seeing a "bright light remaining in one area, but moving up and down slightly" while a second report said someone saw a "stationary white light" over the river.

The first sighting reported in Chatham-Kent was at 11:15pm on August 2. At that time, someone contacted the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) and said they saw three red lights in a "triangular formation moving faster than airplanes."

Just over a month later, at 10:02am on September 12, someone from Chatham contacted the MUFON saying they saw a white light above a "chemtrail" before it disappeared.

The final sighting reported in Chatham-Kent was on December 1 at 10:20am. Someone from Chatham told the MUFON they saw a bright sphere like the sun peeking out from behind a cloud before seeing the sun itself emerge separately.

According to the Ufology Research report, the vast majority of the 1,131 UFO reports that were officially filed in Canada in 2016 are classified as having "insufficient evidence" (74%) followed by "probable" cases (21%).
