Two Wallaceburg Streets To Get Facelift Soon

Re-construction of McNaughton Ave. in Wallaceburg should begin soon.

A portion of Murray St. will also get re-built.

Adam Sullo is Chatham-Kent's Director of Engineering and Transportation and says the re-construction of McNaughton is from Murray to the southern limits of the Lord Selkirk Bridge and the work on Murray is from McNaughton to just south of Baseline Road.

He says McNaughton and Murray have been in fair to poor condition for a few years.

"Certainly we wanted to do this for a few years but we really wanted the province to pay, what I would say is, their fair share to maintain our roads and connecting links," says Sullo.

The $4.4-million project is set to start in mid-April with a completion date of July 31st.

Sullo says the re-construction includes new asphalt, new curbs and gutters, new sidewalks and traffic signal improvements.

He says "there will be some disruption obviously with concrete work. There's disruption to accesses but we're going to be minimizing those as much as humanly possible."

Sullo says an information session will be held April 4th at 4:30 at the Wallaceburg Service Centre Board Room at 786 Dufferin Avenue to answer any questions.

"We just want to make sure that if there's an issue that we don't know about, if someone has a concern that we hadn't heard before, we just want to make that we're addressing those and that people know that access will be continued," Sullo says.
