Electronics Stolen From McNaughton Avenue Public School

Another school in Chatham has been targeted by thieves.

Thieves targeted McNaughton Avenue Public School sometime late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, and stole 19 iPads worth up to $7,000 total.

Lambton Kent District School Board Public Relations Officer Heather Hughes tells BlackburnNews.com the board is ramping up security, but couldn't get into specifics.

"We have security systems installed in all of our schools, and we are making sure that we are taking any direction from the Chatham-Kent police on these instances," she says. "We're also reminding all of our staff and students to make sure that they're taking the necessary precautions to protect their personal belongings and board equipment."

This is the fourth break-and-enter in a LKDSB school in the last couple of weeks.

Over the Family Day weekend, Indian Creek Public School was broken into on two separate occasions, and John McGregor Secondary School was broken into once.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
