CK's Most Dangerous Intersections Of 2016

King St. W and Lacroix St. tops the list as one of Chatham-Kent's 20 worst intersections for collisions in 2016.

Chatham-Kent Police Acting Sergeant Doug Cowell says that intersection is not usually on top of the list, but adds that "it could be the possibility of increased traffic volume due to construction of bridges... but we can't say for sure that was the reason."

Cowell says Park Ave. and Lacroix St. or Richmond St. and Lacroix St. usually top the list for number of crashes.

Peak times for collisions are between 11am and 5pm.

Also on the 2016 list are McNaughton Ave. and Sandys St., Grand Ave. and St. Clair St., Grand Ave. and Keil Dr. and Lacroix St. and Park Ave. in that order.

June along with November and December are the worst months for crashes, says Cowell.

"A lot of times you can contribute that to the weather changes," he says. "When all of a sudden we start getting our first snow fall and drivers aren't prepared for it."

He says the list changed from 2015 and credits social media awareness for some intersections not being there last year.
