Otter Creek Wind Project Meeting Monday Night

There's another public meeting in the Wallaceburg area Monday night to discuss a proposed wind turbine project in the area.

The Otter Creek wind farm project is being backed by Renewable Energy Systems Canada (RES), Boralex Inc., and the Walpole Island First Nation.

The first public information meeting was held in July of 2016.

Monday's meeting runs from 5pm-8pm at the Baldoon Golf and Country Club on Dufferin Rd. in Wallaceburg.

"It's an opportunity for members of the public to attend, to voice any concerns they might have, and to ask questions about the project," says Boralex Communications Officer Heather Plewes. "We'll have information about the renewable energy approval process we're going through right now."

Plewes says there will also be several employees and experts from the project development team on hand to answer any questions people might have.

Boralex will also be collecting feedback via comment forms. Those forms will be included in the consultation report that goes to the province as part of the Renewable Energy Approval (REA) process.

The group is hoping to submit that application in the next few months and hopes to start construction, pending approval, in 2018. They're hoping to complete construction and become operational in either late 2018 or early 2019.

The proposed project includes 12 turbines, which would go up in an area just north of Wallaceburg.
