Wallaceburg Residents Could Soon Have New Services Closer To Home

Wallaceburg's hospital could soon see a facelift.

CKHA Interim President and CEO Ken Deane says plans are underway to redevelop the Sydenham Campus and add new services. He says some upgrades have already been made and the second and third floors have been closed to keep staff and patients safe.

Deane says this should reaffirm the CKHA's commitment to Wallaceburg.

"Money will be saved on the second and third floor through heating and lighting," he says.

Deane says the improvements won't be done all at once but in stages.

"Developing affordable upgrade packages so we can work within the Ministry of Health funding guidelines and come up with a package that is affordable and we can do over time," he says.

Deane says Wallaceburg residents need better services closer to home, but it's too early to say what they are.

Deane says $12-million needs to be spent in Chatham and Wallaceburg over the next several years to meet standards.
