Ready, Set, Run!

Mark your calendars because the RunCK Race Series is getting ready for another year full of events.

Chairperson Angelo Ligori says RunCK has about ten runs/walks scheduled throughout the year, starting in April.

"The races are put together by charitable organizations, or just groups of run and sports enthusiasts that want to promote wellness and healthy living in Chatham-Kent," says Ligori.

Each event is hosted by a local organization, supporting a different cause.

"[For example], I know St. Clair River Run raises money to put playground equipment in their park," he says.

RunCK has been coordinating these events for a few years now. Ligori says the 2016 events saw about 100-400 people at each race.

"Each one of the organizations raises, my guess would be, maybe about $15,000 each," says Ligori. "If you add it all up we're probably getting a couple of thousand -- 2,000 to 2,400 people for all the events and maybe raising $150,000 to $200,000 a year."

The groups hosting events for 2017 range from local schools to organizations like the United Way of Chatham-Kent.
