LaSalle Holds Off Maroons 3-2

The LaSalle Vipers maintained their lead in the GOJHL Western Conference standings with a 3-2 win over the Maroons in Chatham Sunday night.

The win extends the Vipers' lead in the conference by six points to 53.  The Maroons are in third place with 45 points.

The Maroons began the scoring almost right away, with Teddy McGeen's goal at 1:41 into the opening period.  The Vipers brought the equalizer just after the start of the second period, as Daniel Beaudoin found the net at 1:21 into that frame.  LaSalle took the lead late in the period on a goal from Jack Bowler for a 2-1 lead at the second intermission.

Liam MacDougall got some insurance for LaSalle in the third period, extending the Vipers' lead to 3-1 at 1:16 into the period.  Maddux Rychel picked up an assist on that goal, just a couple of days after Rychel made his debut with the Windsor Spitfires, who are now on their holiday break.  Chatham pulled within one at 10:46 on a goal from Devin Panzeca, but there would be no more scoring in the contest.

The Vipers welcome the Lambton Shores Predators to the Vollmer Complex Wednesday night.  The Maroons will host the Strathroy Rockets Thursday night.  The puck drops at 7pm and the game will be broadcast on CFCO Country 92.9FM /AM 630.
