Dog Dispute Results In Assault Charge

An 18-year-old Chatham man is in trouble with police after allegedly pulling a knife on his ex-girlfriend.

Police say the man allegedly held a hunting knife up to his ex-girlfriend's chest while they were arguing over the ownership of a dog earlier this week. She left the area shortly after that.

Officers say the same man showed up at a residence in Chatham Wednesday night and asked to speak with the woman again.

This time he was allegedly holding a pocket knife and standing in what police are calling "an intimidating manner."

Officers were called to the scene, but the man fled the area before they could arrest him.

Police managed to find the man a short time later and took him into custody. He's charged with assault with a weapon.
